The 8th Criminal Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Munich has opened the main proceedings against the two defendants by decision of 28 February 2025 and admitted the indictment of the Federal Public Prosecutor General for the main trial without any changes.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office had filed an indictment on 9 December 2024 (see also:

https://www.generalbundesanwalt.de/SharedDocs/Pressemitteilungen/EN/2024/Pressemitteilung-vom-30-12-2024-2-engl.html?nn=2095964); the defendants are accused of belonging to the foreign terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS) and of having committed the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes by enslaving and raping two Yazidi girls in Iraq and Syria.

The Presiding Judge of the 8th Criminal Senate, Dr. Philipp Stoll, has scheduled a total of 44 trial dates from 19.05.2025 to 08.01.2026 for the main trial. The individual dates can be found in the attached list.

By order dated 31 March 2025, the Presiding Judge also ordered the implementation of an accreditation procedure for interested media representatives.
